Hello happy refillers!

I’d like to start by properly introducing myself. My name is Leona and I’m a born and bred St Juster, St Just being a small town (or parish… some laugh at it being called a town!) at the most Westerly town in the UK. It’s a very lovely place with a strong sense of community and that ‘everybody knows everybody’ feel.

I’ve been busy for the past 2 years working on starting The Happy Weigh. In between part-time day jobs and a pandemic, it hasn’t been easy to say the least trying to get the wheels to the road so to speak. But I am getting there and it feels quite surreal after quietly working away in the background at home for so long. But, as with all babies; both real and metaphorical – they need to be birthed eventually.

So this is very exciting for me, beginning to share my vision with all you lovely people. Starting with our first ever blog post…

We ventured out for our very first public outing last Sunday (Nov 7th). Excitedly with a little nervousness, we made our way to the St Just Care and Repair Cafe where we lent a hand volunteering, while also showcasing what The Happy Weigh has to offer with some free samples. As with all new projects, you never know how they will be received until you start to engage in it with the public. But nerves were quickly replaced with joy when conversation began flowing and for the first time I could share and explain what the intentions are for THW.

We wanted to offer the free samples because it feels really important to us that our potential new customers can try the products on offer before committing to any purchases, even if we believe the products are super great.

As we were featuring at the St Just Care and Repair Cafe it felt very fitting to encourage re-use by offering the samples in various sized jars that potential customers could bring back and have refilled at one of our market stalls. This all went down very well with the cafe-goers and we came back home empty handed as lots of happy people left the cafe not only with newly repaired items but arms full of Happy Weigh goodies. Happy days!

Currently we’re preparing ourselves for a Winter of refilling, putting the final touches in place before we pilot our family run business to communities in West-Penwith.

On that note, see you very soon!
